Help & guide

Getting started with TOXsIgN.

1

Browse the repository

Head to Browse to explore deposited signatures and projects. Filter by omics type, species, and tissue, then click any signature to open its detail view — entity lists, functional enrichment, interaction graph, and linked AOPs.

2

Create an account

A free account lets you deposit data and keep track of your submissions from the dashboard. Sign up with your email, then confirm and sign in.

3

Submit a signature

From Submit, create a project, describe the assay (experiment type, species, tissue), and upload your up- and down-regulated entity lists. Signatures stay private until you choose to publish them.

4

Run an analysis

Use the Tools to run functional enrichment, compare signatures, or project chemicals into ChemPSy space — directly against deposited data or your own gene list.

Frequently asked questions

What is a signature?

A set of molecular entities (genes, proteins, or metabolites) that respond to a chemical exposure, with the up- and down-regulated members and the experimental context that produced them.

Which identifiers can I use?

Each omics type accepts its standard vocabularies — Entrez/Ensembl for transcriptomics, UniProt and others for proteomics, HMDB/ChEBI/KEGG/PubChem for metabolomics. See the About page for the full list.

How are AOPs linked?

Deposited signatures are automatically matched to AOP-Wiki adverse outcome pathways through their chemical stressors (by CAS number, then by name). Curators can review and adjust these links.

Is my data public?

No. Submissions are private to your account until you explicitly publish a project.
